Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park Kansas

The Nerman Contemporary Museum of Art at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas opened in 2007. It was designed by Kyu Sung Woo Architects to exhibit art by Dana Schutz, Kehinde Wiley, Uta Barth, Kerry James Marshall, and Do-Ho Suh. It also acts as a connector for the school and community, an entrance to the campus. The public lawn provides a sweeping view of the building, and the glass lobby introduces the visitor to what's happening inside. The limestone cladding is unusual and the horizontal shades give a distinctive permeability. The various spaces have remarkable relationships to the outiside: a strip of windows in the gallery ceiling, and enormous facades of glazing in the meeting room. More Info
