Before Shigeru Ban designed the Centre Pompidou Metz, he designed this temporary office structure atop the Paris Pompidou Center. The recycled-paper tube structure is similar to the glass tube elevators in Pompidou. This Paper Tube Studio has windows in certain instances of these porthole shaped wall treatments. Simple wall structure with tensile cords render a structure that is easily understood and easily relates to outside. Interior wall cladding would ruin the brilliant mixture of structure and architecture.
Ban's other temporary structures, with uses ranging from refugee shelters in Rwanda to the Nomadic Museum in New York use recycled materials for green building that is easily transportable and easily disposed of.
