Rive D'Arcano is a small commune near the coast in the Province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy. This project by Gianugo Polesello in 1972 is a modern comment on the traditional Italian villa. It is located atop a small hill in an isolated agricultural area, like most villas, and has the same stucco material. Trellised pathways through the porch's gardens are also traditional.
But sweeping facades of large windows take in more light. The white plaster facade also flips up to reveal a car garage, with openings that resemble the front windows. This project is an early example of deconstructionism.
