Forestry Hall Tomochi, Kumamoto

Another classic structure designed by Arup. Nishizawa Taira was the architect. The organic diagonal wood structure on the interior is made of local cedar, speaking of the town's origins in forestry. This compliments the strict geometry of the pure glazing walls. The steel in the protective exterior envelope continues into the foundation, landing the rectangle box delicately onto the ground.
