Daniel Gelabert designed the Biblioteca Pública de Lleida in the small town of Lérida. It inhabits a historic building that was once the city's Maternity building.
Classic symmetry and arched brick characterize the spaces, with modern structure added and daylighting devices. The courtyard of the Child and Youth Area Public Library acts as a central gathering place, and is frequently used to exhibit art. Stacks in the library include books and manuscripts from as far back as the sixteenth century.
